Did you notice?

Did you notice?

Just a Spanish Island and me
And two ducks catching fish in the sea.
Late night litter in the in the sand
By uncaring humans on this lovely land.

But did you stop to notice her
Working quietly as so not to stir?
Adding junk to her collection
Helps to avoid some cross infection.

The steps, the floors all waste free -
Made it safer for you and me.
Devoid of any loose debris;
Gone are the cups of dregs from tea.

All stone’s uncovered, not too dusty,
Smells of sweet scent, never musty.
Ashtrays emptied, stairs are swept,
Towels replaced when our feet got wet.

Cleaned, polished, wiped, made beds,
Under burning sun while we rest our heads.
Thoroughly spoilt, rested and pampered -
Ensured we got our picnic hampers!

All around and across our nations
Reduces risks of contamination
But did you see her?
The relentless toiling of a maid and cleaner.

With memories of Majorca and the sea all to myself...

A well earned rest

A well-earned rest

Weve travelled to a distant land
Clear sea, blue skies go hand in hand;
Burnt our feet on hot white sand
Thinking thoughts of aint life grand.

But every morning there is a race
To reserve a spot and put in place;
So for now it is their space,
Roast in the heat a reddened face!

Get up too early it is so sad -
Mothers, children, babies, dad!
Doss all day, they must be mad!
Part of the rat race theyve now had.

And of these people, it is allowed -
Doesnt matter what face in the crowd,
Ready and waiting with coloured towel
Like a vulture to prey and justly proud!

But just for now its worth a shot
To arise with birds to grab a spot!
Ill lay here all day while its hot
A distant home life Ive forgot.

So pardon me and please excuse
While I kick off my plastic shoes.
My bodies had a little booze.....
Ill lay here for now and have a snooze.

On Jeff Lynne!

on Jeff Lynn

I didn’t mean to put Jeff Lynne
Outside In the recycling bin -
When I should be keeping him!
And not to be dumped with potato skin
And other things, like bottles and tins
And your violin -my maestro king!
Love to hear you sing;
Legend of a living thing!

Your hairy face nearly met my fireplace!
Lost in time, stars and space;
The man I most admire
That’s almost set the world on fire.
I didn’t mean to disregard
Outside my back yard -
You are my trump card!
To you I have such deep regard.

Now I’m not proposing
That you’re decomposing
But you do possess
A knack to reprocess!

And didn’t think it at the time,
You’ve been so good with song and rhyme;
I’ve always thought you were terrific
Talented, gifted - and so prolific.

I want to admire and enjoy,
The thrilling skills you can employ.
I didn’t mean to almost destroy.....
Out of the blue the golden boy!

Just me and the sea!

Just me and the sea!

Jus me and the sea
In its entirety;
Inky black cant see
The deep blue ocean and me
And when Im ready
Scatter my ashes
For eternity....
Dont take a photo of me now-
The beached whale!
To others it would look foul!
But at least its
Mozzie free!

Once bitten.....

Once bitten....

Heard a rumour that a spoonful of marmite
Would deter a mozzie from their bite
And the gossip from the product SSS,
Might stop them feeding from my legs!

(It works for the army in hot nations
As Avon add on their inflations)
But then with all probability
I might start stinking of scented gravy....

And even though the use of a repellent
It doesn’t seem to be a good deterrent;
As they play their mozzie drone
Another itchy spot that makes me moan!

Perhaps better to start to think again
About our life cycle of a food chain
And let the birds devour succulent eats
Of gnats, fresh blood won’t deny their treats!

So what of taking an antihistamine?
Would midge eating animals think that mean?
Taken with wine, all would be fine
Sleep at night on the washing line!

Mosquito you are a nasty organism
With all your filth but some wisdom
Your short life here is very quick
This is just as well coz you make me sick!
