For a short time

For a short time

The sky's aglow

With winter snow,

Only one way to go

Under my feet below.

The kids play out

They scream and shout

And mess about!

Until they're worn out.

Snow people to greet you,

All out to meet you!

The cold smoke sleet

Around the snowman complete.

The translucent sky

Full of snow so high.

Don't pass me by

Like an ethereal butterfly.

A precious snowflake;

With a six-sided shape.

A white landscape;

And a magic escape!

Everything's white covered

Waiting to be discovered!

Whiteout, just love her

Of our natures' Mother.

Snowballs on freezing hands,

For miles on miles of our land.

Go out there, nothing planned!

Looks like fairy wonderland.

Woolly hat, knit warm gloves,

Never think I'll have enough

Sent from heaven from above,

It's all free, with lots of love.

Such a lovely pastime,

It spends some time

Around Christmastime

For a short time.

Then the snows melt

With pouring rain pelt

And what I felt

Instead, a cold wind belt.

The snow's turned to slush

Underfoot slippery mush,

And with the water rush

Away it's flushed.

Gone are the sleighs

For another snowy day.

All the child's play

Now drifted away.

Just one more wine...

 I confess It's all a mess

Feeling now just too much stress!

Decorations down from the attic,
It's all begun to get problematic.
The little robin is on the floor
Lost it's red breast near the  front door.
The fairy has now lost her head
Have to use a bauble instead!
The tree is full of mismatched trinkets,
Going to have to sit down and rethink.
The fairy lights some work, some not
And they're the only ones I've got!
I confess it's all a mess
Feeling the pressure and much stress!
Will have a glass or two of wine
For now this will be my lifeline.
The spuds and bird are overcooked,
Something simple I overlooked,
The water in the pan boiled dry,
Time to invest in an air fry!
The Christmas dinner I do try;
Wishing for a salad - like we do in July!
Crispy black burnt bacon on pigs in blankets,
Oh to cook a delicious banquet!
Will have another glass of wine
To ease this cooking misery of mine.
At least the gifts are all covered
For people to enjoy and discover
I'll get the cranberry sauce and cover
The worst of the dinner, what an awful mother!
I confess it's all a mess
But feeling less and less hard pressed,
After another glass of wine
Feeling a little bit better this time!
The Christmas pud, set alight
It'll be alright after the first bite!
There is of course a choice of cheese
The cheesecake that I forgot to unfreeze.
Got to do a bit of bluffing
Left in the bowl, the homemade stuffing.
I confess it's all a mess
It's no good trying to impress.
With many thoughts of ready made
And next year I'll stick to lemonade!
And after another glass of wine
Everything now looks just fine.
After mints, stuffing chocs,
All day tomorrow must detox.
All the burnt bits of dinner recooked.
And all the things I overlooked.
Leftovers Bubble and squeak
And much more to last until midweek!
And after another glass of wine
It's time to sit down and resign!
I confess the mess
Did get me stressed
But all have eaten what was dished up.
Pour one more wine in my drinking cup.....

Leg ins!

Leg ins!

They fit around every curve,

Keep your legs so toasty!

At least one pair we all deserve

Wear these on my pins mostly!

Jeggings leggings, love them all

They’re comfy soft textile.

Found in every shopping mall

And not gone out of style!

Been around for a long time

Forty years - or even longer

For the autumn and springtime -

Their fashion is much stronger.

They cover every bump,

Every hump and every lump

And even if you’re a little plump

They’ll stretch around your rump!

Forget jeans - these wrap around

Feel nice against your skin

Long or short all year round

And perfect to lounge in

Like thick, long, warm tights

Stretch right over my backside

And when the freezing ice bites,

I'll feel so warm inside.

They are so easy to store!

Roll them up, put away

In your leggings drawer;

Think they’re here to stay.

No belts, zips or buttons to navigate

Easy Slip up and slide down.

Nothing to even contemplate

Just glad they’re still around!

Disqualify !

Disqualify!

Am missing Corrie and the Chase

And checking the time on the clock face.

The News at ten is now on at half past

Tomorrow's weather - wrong time and forecast.

All the loose women have gone awry

Dont know how and dont know why!

But they have lost their womanly slot

And what is good in the honey pot.

Television viewing is now under attack,

Great old favourites have now been put back.

Emmerdale and the great London Eastenders;

The feeling I get is of a contender!

Gone are the familiar faces

Yorkshire, Manchester, familiar places,

Tipping point, tipping coins - simplicity

Answering questions over a cup of tea.

I switch on the TV and what do I see?

A ball being kicked, a whistle blowing referee!

Missing soaps and murders I didn't foresee -

And pay every year for this 'great' BBC!

The fights, the fallouts intrigue and drama

Somehow when watching makes me feel calmer!

I like enjoy catastrophe in casualty.

The soaps, the acting the inhumanity.

It's all gone wrong and very cockeyed

Just want it all back and be goggle-eyed!

This really is unjustified

They should go home and be disqualified!

I wish the chit chat of the panel

Would find themselves another channel

With all the commentary and the flannel

Am finding it more and more like banal

Every four years has become a dread -

Not everyone is a fan it must be said!

To indulge in programs with what should be on

And want what is now on TV - just be gone!

Why?

WHY

While the world was on its knees

The entire globe felt such unease,

It only took a cough or sneeze

Terrified of catching this new disease.

For months on end, we were cautious

Worried sick, feeling nauseous,

Cancelled visits, cancelled plans,

Across the globe from man to man.

It took many months to feel secure

And many people are still unsure.

The legacy has left a huge impact

In different ways after this attack.

We pulled together, slowly recovered

Things out there to be discovered!

It made most of us so understanding

To go through life - be less demanding.

Life cautiously back to what we knew

Though nobody in the world had a clue

Slowly but sure, back on our feet

With mixed emotions now bittersweet,

We thought it couldn't get any worse

But more to come to bleed our purse.

Lying in wait a strategic plan,

Like a game of chess and a conman.

What was nearly ready, lying in wait,

Already under much debate.

Now so much death and deplete

Blood, debris, lying in the concrete.

Out there waiting ominously

A part of the east acts intolerably.

War crimes committed abominably,

Ukraine no longer what it used to be.

Gorbachev will turn in his grave

The peaceful man who was so brave!

It was he that put the world at peace

Berlin ornament on the mantelpiece.

Towns and cities you have battered,

Lives of people completely shattered.

Turned the trades of countries upside down

Our ways of living turned around.

The cold war came to a conclusion

Until a backward plan of collusion.

These countries -not yours to take back!

So why create this terrible act?

Children murdered; women raped.

We’ve saved a few that did escape.

You cannot put a price on man

But have no qualms taking their land.

This pointless war is inhumane,

You’ll keep on bombing until dust remains.

Just how much land do you need?

How long will it last, this dreadful deed?

They want the freedom of democracy -

That’s exactly where they want to be!

Although they won’t give in to defeat,

Just want their country back on its feet.

The way they live is what they chose

Why should they sit back and lose?

Why should they want to live like you?

They do not share or like your views.

You hate the normal way of thinking

Gathered around their borders without blinking

Those countries do not belong to you

Just how far do you intend to go?

Much further east they are no better

Think like Russia – to the letter

Go away and keep your dictatorship

Warped and corrupted leadership.

History is repeating itself

Why has this not all been shelved?

A twisted man on a mission

Who seeks a countries’ extradition?

Now in rubble, a country devastated

This way of thinking is so outdated

Our neighbours killed - fought for their land

How far will this go, what else is planned?

We’ve given arms as guns and sent so far

Our arms outstretched like a shining star!

No more transport in a tank car

Thus, many will perish from afar.

Food trade halted, they’ll be malnutrition

Who could enjoy this to happen?

They can’t be bullied - what can we do?

It’s up to the likes of me and you
