Houseguest
We have a guest - a spindly spider
And would like to try and hide her;
Crawled to her refuge from cold and rain
Away from cruelty of natures’ food chain.
Her tiny body and long thin legs –
Too cold for her in chilly shed.
She found some shelter in our home
Protect her from a sucking Hoover;
Won’t dare touch or try to move her.
She works quietly - looks after our house
Gets on with tasks, silent as a mouse.
She toils hard and seeks out prey –
Her food supply at end of the day.
She’ll catch the nasty parasites
Snared in web and out of sight.
Won’t put her out or cover with a glass
To cope with damp, long, autumn grass.
For others whom aren’t overly fond
But from me - a name and we’ll form a bond!
I’ll try to help with your survival
But so sorry that you have a rival.
They’ll always be a welcome mat
But you might end up as high tea............
In my fat tabby cat!
