Slug
You are a slimy, creepy slug
And you I cannot begin to hug!
Eaten my juicy sunflower shoots,
Found the perfect food path route!
You’re such a vile little thug!
You might not have legs
And you I’ve come to dread.
It seems you’ve got to adopt and foster
The leaves right through my Hosta’s.
Your gooey mucus that you’ve spread.
You've desecrated my daffodils
Gorged yourself and had your fill
My lupins you've devoured,
My beloved plants and flowers!
The whole garden you will kill!
My chillies and runner beans -
To those you were quite mean!
You slimed and ate and chewed
Before they even grew!
You really were quite keen!
You’re such a wicked invertebrate
Leaving plants in such a state!
I shouldn’t feel opposed
And must really stay composed,
Learn to love and not to hate.
Good for our ecology,
You do pollinate – my apology!
Unless you make a swift retreat
You’ll make a tasty succulent treat
Like a refreshing cup of tea!
Now in the pond you go
You’ll help something else to grow!
All you’ve done is discompose,
Full up with creatures decomposed,
Now you’re good to feed some snakes, and toads!
