For a short time

For a short time

The sky's aglow

With winter snow,

Only one way to go

Under my feet below.

The kids play out

They scream and shout

And mess about!

Until they're worn out.

Snow people to greet you,

All out to meet you!

The cold smoke sleet

Around the snowman complete.

The translucent sky

Full of snow so high.

Don't pass me by

Like an ethereal butterfly.

A precious snowflake;

With a six-sided shape.

A white landscape;

And a magic escape!

Everything's white covered

Waiting to be discovered!

Whiteout, just love her

Of our natures' Mother.

Snowballs on freezing hands,

For miles on miles of our land.

Go out there, nothing planned!

Looks like fairy wonderland.

Woolly hat, knit warm gloves,

Never think I'll have enough

Sent from heaven from above,

It's all free, with lots of love.

Such a lovely pastime,

It spends some time

Around Christmastime

For a short time.

Then the snows melt

With pouring rain pelt

And what I felt

Instead, a cold wind belt.

The snow's turned to slush

Underfoot slippery mush,

And with the water rush

Away it's flushed.

Gone are the sleighs

For another snowy day.

All the child's play

Now drifted away.

Just one more wine...

 I confess It's all a mess

Feeling now just too much stress!

Decorations down from the attic,
It's all begun to get problematic.
The little robin is on the floor
Lost it's red breast near the  front door.
The fairy has now lost her head
Have to use a bauble instead!
The tree is full of mismatched trinkets,
Going to have to sit down and rethink.
The fairy lights some work, some not
And they're the only ones I've got!
I confess it's all a mess
Feeling the pressure and much stress!
Will have a glass or two of wine
For now this will be my lifeline.
The spuds and bird are overcooked,
Something simple I overlooked,
The water in the pan boiled dry,
Time to invest in an air fry!
The Christmas dinner I do try;
Wishing for a salad - like we do in July!
Crispy black burnt bacon on pigs in blankets,
Oh to cook a delicious banquet!
Will have another glass of wine
To ease this cooking misery of mine.
At least the gifts are all covered
For people to enjoy and discover
I'll get the cranberry sauce and cover
The worst of the dinner, what an awful mother!
I confess it's all a mess
But feeling less and less hard pressed,
After another glass of wine
Feeling a little bit better this time!
The Christmas pud, set alight
It'll be alright after the first bite!
There is of course a choice of cheese
The cheesecake that I forgot to unfreeze.
Got to do a bit of bluffing
Left in the bowl, the homemade stuffing.
I confess it's all a mess
It's no good trying to impress.
With many thoughts of ready made
And next year I'll stick to lemonade!
And after another glass of wine
Everything now looks just fine.
After mints, stuffing chocs,
All day tomorrow must detox.
All the burnt bits of dinner recooked.
And all the things I overlooked.
Leftovers Bubble and squeak
And much more to last until midweek!
And after another glass of wine
It's time to sit down and resign!
I confess the mess
Did get me stressed
But all have eaten what was dished up.
Pour one more wine in my drinking cup.....

Leg ins!

Leg ins!

They fit around every curve,

Keep your legs so toasty!

At least one pair we all deserve

Wear these on my pins mostly!

Jeggings leggings, love them all

They’re comfy soft textile.

Found in every shopping mall

And not gone out of style!

Been around for a long time

Forty years - or even longer

For the autumn and springtime -

Their fashion is much stronger.

They cover every bump,

Every hump and every lump

And even if you’re a little plump

They’ll stretch around your rump!

Forget jeans - these wrap around

Feel nice against your skin

Long or short all year round

And perfect to lounge in

Like thick, long, warm tights

Stretch right over my backside

And when the freezing ice bites,

I'll feel so warm inside.

They are so easy to store!

Roll them up, put away

In your leggings drawer;

Think they’re here to stay.

No belts, zips or buttons to navigate

Easy Slip up and slide down.

Nothing to even contemplate

Just glad they’re still around!
