Just a nit!
During the long stay at home
Not doing much but play on the phone!
Picked up an old hobby, my needles in hand;
Didn't know where to start - nothing was
planned.
It was no good waiting around and sitting,
Thought about restarting stitching and knitting!
Looked high and low for inspiration,
Though not good with new stitches and creations.
Found grids for slippers with cats, bobbles on hats
With butterfly designs and their habitats!
Bought different colours in their steins;
Looked on the internet for guidelines.
Scarves to keep my loved ones toasty
Easy to knit and made these mostly!
All my friends received their gifts -
Last Christmas with so many knits!
Though my attempts have been a task
And through the months of wearing masks;
Mittens help keep cold hands heated,
Germs kept at bay while being greeted.
Got in a muddle with decrease, increase
Wish I'd never started this new piece!
Undone, redone – but a lot of fun!
Sat up until the midnight sun.
I’m such a novice but people do wear
Go out of their door if they dare!
My bits of knits might well be worn
And the love of knitting has been reborn!
There are only little things I can do
In colours red, pink, grey, green and blue
And next year, through your letter box -
You might just find a pair of knitted socks!
