Headspace

It’s not about money, not what you
earn,
Its people you love and whatever you
yearn.
A house is a place to live freely and
roam
Not a show house – but a family
home!
Building memories and dreams – not a
daily clean!
To enjoy, not endure all the dust
that’s unseen.

Go fill your boots and lay your
roots
Share special moments -bear your
fruits
A safe haven with all whom you
love,
With spider and cobweb on the ceiling
above.
Not clean and scrub until it’s all
flawless -
Nobody cares they’ll all be
aweless!

Wear yourself out with another
clear-out
Just keep going until you wash yourself
out!
So much hygiene until it’s all clean
and pristine
And won’t be happy until it all
gleams!
Don’t let the garden and moss on the
path
Grow any more than an inch and a
half!

The house is tidy from last Thursday to
Friday
No time to browse and book a
holiday!
My loved one is tired, feels so
undesired
No time for loving – other things are
required.
So many rooms and floors to run
through
Or buy something new with the spare
revenue.

Much more to upkeep - so
knee-deep
Just want to shut-eye and get some
sleep!
More to maintain will go cleaning
insane
Need to unwrangle this mangled up
brain!
In this showroom with a duster and
broom;
Another groundhog day once again to
resume.

Every stone will be turned over
There won’t be anything left
over.
Rubbish bins for rubbish
collection
Put out on the street with love and
affection
And this will be rinsed of muck and
dirt
Even if it means to overexert!

Paths swept, promises kept,
Indoors and out will be
well-kept.
I know deep down this isn’t me
Is this housework obsession an
OCD?
This has become a continuous
addiction
And is now a common affliction.

Cloth in hand and here I go,
This should have been finished long
ago!
Another day and it’s just the
same
Got a written list to follow
again.
The jobs I do, they never end
They’re very hard to apprehend.

Nothing out of place, not in this
headspace
Have another vacuum around – just in
case!
And every day it looks exactly the
same
Get a cleaning cloth around windows and
frames.
The cars are kept washed and made
fresh
Everything is scrubbed but my head is a
mess.
