Can't find it!

Can't find it!

Can't find where it is

among turkey slices

the herbs and spices,

biscuits for cheese

got the Christmas

disease

Of buying too much!

Some cheese

that is Dutch.

Pickle and cream -

a dieters' dream...

Cakes and ham,

fruit shakes and

red alcoholic jam!

(In here it's so crammed)

Brandy snaps

Among the scraps;

a packet of wraps.

Bubble and squeak

enough for week

upon week!

Prosecco and beer -

for Christmas cheer!

Stuffed waistlines

sprouts on the vine

blush coloured wine.

Same every year

lettuce, pickle, mince pies

that reaches the sky!

Cold meats and

too many sweets -

so much to eat!

What about breakfast

double pack bacon

and a dozen eggs

but still can’t find

The stuff

I use for my head!

The fridge is stacked

some food rich and yucky;

But aren't we lucky?

Things in packs

but at last!

I find with all the snacks

At the back of the fridge

my hair wax....

Just want

Just want

Just want to see my friends

Want to give them a hug

We took it all for granted

Before this horrendous bug.

Just want to have a chat -

Want to share outpourings;

Want to share your news

Talk about a million things.

Just want to catch up

Want to share a glass of wine;

Put the world to rights

And need to know you're fine.

Just want to know how you feel.

We've all kept a stiff upper lip

And carried on like troopers

We sent our jokes and quips.

Just want your company -

Want to know how you've coped.

It's been so very long now

We've all begun to mope.

Just want some fun and laughter,

The simple things in life!

The things we took for granted

But can't because things are rife.

Just want to see your smile,

To listen and have a giggle!

Eat lunch or go for a walk

To discuss our silly niggles.

Just want to see my friends,

Want to be able to call,

To knock on your door

Not standing at the end of your wall.

Just want to see my friends

Spend some precious time,

The time we took for granted

For most of our lifetime.

Just want to share a pot of tea,

Talk over good things and troubles.

Want to know if your friends are ok

Within their own family bubbles.

Just want to see my friends

It's been on hold for much too long.

Not seen you all for ages

It really is prolonged.

Just want to see my friends

To know that you're all okay,

But this isn't going to happen

Until this virus is at bay

Open wide

Open wide

The lines of communication

Will always be ajar;

The landline, mobile,

Email address

But all we get is

Your space bar.

Live in the same house

Address is still the same;

To hear from you -

A stamp on a card

Or letter

But all we get is blame.

The same as we used to be

Just a little older

And the worry,

The panic,

The wondering

But all youve got is colder.

Youve only got to make

Some contact

Front door is open wide

As are our arms!

But yours remain

Intact.

Lines of communication

Face to face on phone;

Want to see your beauty

How your cat has grown!

What youve done in your home.

So why do you postpone?

Pretend nothings happened,

The only way to cope.

In my eyes nothing has -

But youre tightening the rope!

Youve only got to get in touch

It is our only hope.
