Reawakening

Reawakening

Amid the virus, I did upcycle

Recycle, a new revival!

And thought well, no holiday

For a few months anyway.

I planted plants, painted pots,

New enthusiasm, planning lots!

Used pallets for shelves -

With no cost to myself!

Strawberries, runner beans

Spinach and lettuce greens.

Tomatoes seeds to grow

Pots of flowers on the patio.

And amid the Covid hysteria

Planted two trees of Wisteria!

To climb a pergola (from eBay)

Been having quite a field day!

Some catnip for cats,

Two homes for bats,

An insect hotel

For insects to dwell.

A table for bird food

But the pigeons are shrewd,

And fat!

Closely watching is my cat...

And from early sunrise

I attract butterflies

With overripe fruit

They are so beautifully cute.

And the builder that chucked

HIs rubbish, got reconstruct.

Huge slabs of concrete

Made the garden look complete

And on the contrary

His trash made a rockery!

With somewhere to sit

Made from big logs I admit

A house for hedgehogs

A small pond for frogs

With a pink water Lilly

That is so pretty!

A teapot in the plum tree

For birds to nest shared with bees

Didn't need a degree!

Just a gardening wannabee!

Some Lavender given

The bees are driven.

Bulbs for meadows -

Was given a rambling rose

For the side of the abode.

The seeds I've sowed!

From late Sept,

Autumn, Winter, it slowly crept

And the garden looked dead.

Stayed Indoors instead.

Now Spring is here

Life has started to reappear;

Upcycling has begun!

With so much more be done!

The climbers, shrubs, garden cover

Other useful tips just discovered.

With no plans for holiday trips.

I welcome any gardening tips!

Prick

Prick

A simple prick - a real lifesaver-

It's doing us all an amazing favour!

Though causing some folk anxiety

Dismissing the atrocious reality.

If we all accept - it will be fine

We'll be ok in a few days' time

But we're getting tired of guidelines

And sick of feeling so confined.

Fed up with wearing visors, masks,

Want them to be a thing of the past.

Sick of being two metres apart;

It's been so long, want a fresh start.

Stupid pricks, their human rights!

Scientists working through days and nights,

Fighting to keep us out of danger,

This is the vaccine, the real-life changer.

We've been given the Oxford or Pfizer

The rumours' wrong, we won't be wiser!

We might have days of feeling unwell,

Maybe it will hit you like a bombshell.

We might get aching limbs and muscles

Which would be the least of our troubles!

We may get a temperature or a fever

And still out there are non-believers.

There has been so much isolation,

Anxiety, loneliness and frustration,

So many tears and cancellations,

This has happened in every nation.

Of course, we'll all be made to pay

And somehow, they'll be found a way

To keep this variant disease at bay.

Forget (for now) sun, sea, holiday.

We must have faith belief and trust

This inoculation is a must!

This is a twenty-first-century plague,

Though understanding has been so vague.

The wishing of hands, sanitising gel -

But really deep down, what the hell?

We don't want this deadly thing to thrive

And we're so lucky to be alive!

Want Out My Body!

Want Out My Body!

You wanted to have a peep inside

To find out what was wrong,

For many months I've almost cried

Going on for much too long!

Been feeling humpy and grumpy

Want to feel like I used to be!

It worried me being lumpy

Not sure what they're going to see.

There were many people in that room

All putting me at ease,

'And while we look within your womb

Think of your happy place now please!'

I thought of blue sea and snorkeling,

While trying to count down

And thoughts about wellbeing

In a hospital gown.

Good to wake up to a cup of tea

With a biscuit and a smile!

Said 'Thanks for looking after me

Can I stay here for a while?'

Now you've explained the concern -

And I really have no doubt,

You've told me and I've learned

You'll be needing to take it out!

I think of all things uterine

Of the babies that grew in there

But think removal will be fine

Have finished with childcare!

I will be back before the end of May,

Go back to a happy place.

I don't mind staying for a day,

This might be my saving grace.

Deflated

Deflated

Missing our talks,

Missing our walks,

The shows!

Going with the flow.

Our birthdays -

Our special days!

There are loads I miss -

A hug and a kiss.

It's somehow got lost

In wires crossed.

Missing our chats

Our cats!

Favourite tracks

Films, relax.

Scrabble!

Endless babble!

A game of crib;

Singing ad-lib.

Now not good

And misunderstood

Looking at photos,

Charity clothes!

Eating out,

Now all in doubt.

Visiting places

Touching base,

Good ideas

Now all unclear.

All in the throes

Not now so close.

Precious words

Now so blurred,

Gifts given with love

All of the above

So missed.

Emails dismissed.

But in the midst

Deep feelings exist,

Please don't desist

A yearn to persist.

Our breaks away

And by the way

It seemed like yesterday

We talked every day.

Your work, your play

To throw away?

Phoned everyday

To see if okay.

Now Mothers' day

Will be kept at bay.

The nation

And population

Frightened, scared,

For us do you care?

Cancelled celebrations

And allegations

The frustrations

And irritations

Now stagnated.

We’ve miscommunicated.

Unanswered questions

Made suggestions,

Keep asking why

And want to cry.

Can’t satisfy,

Can’t identify,

Can’t deny

It’s gone awry

Since last July.

Hard to comply.

Now the tears,

The fears.

Over the years

It appears

The unconditional

Love, not traditional.

It's complicated

Exaggerated

Feel hated

Deflated.

Unprepared

Unprepared

I find it uncanny

That a lump in my fanny

Is festering...

It's been pestering

Enough to visit the doc

But it's still quite a shock!

It's been keeping warm,

and moist, but isn't the norm

Choosing my lady gate!

It's under debate

Going to be scanned,

And swabbed, with other plans!

Just hope it's a cyst

Nothing bad - I insist!

Or just a bleeding spot

That I've got!

Or a blemish

but it has been a menace!

It’s been itchy and sore

Have tried to ignore

But it hasn't gone away

Don't want malady -

(I’ve had a bad year

With a manky ear!)

Don’t want to administer

Treatment on something sinister;

A little soothing cream

That will work like a dream!

To make it disappear

And it all to be clear.

Guess I'm a bit scared

Panicked, unprepared,

Waiting for a biopsy

Take a bit out of me

And hope my interior design

Will be normal and fine.
