In our wisdom

In our wisdom

One day we may lose our teeth
All of them one by one.
It would be a huge relief
To just be left with some gums.

No flossing, or glossing,
No braces or toothpaste.
No dentist, hygienist
To say theyre not the cleanest!

No molars, incisors
Or toothbrush with mint;
Wisdoms' dont make you wiser
Dentists just leave you skint!

No filings or drillings
Or extracts or tooth cracks
No invoice for billing.
Its expensive - a fact.

No whitening, thats frightening,
Oral surgery for cavities.
Your mouth now widening;
Will be over soon thankfully.

No crowns, nor frowns -
Decays bad today.
No plaque breakdowns
Theres no getting away.

After all that care, you despair
Well lose them anyway!
Its got us all nowhere!
And you'll still have to pay!

Let's talk!

Lets talk!

We need to talk
We need to touch base!
Have a good squawk
We need face to face.

We need a good chat
And want to catch up.
Not this WhatApp crap!
Am getting mixed up!

I dont want to Skype
Its like reality TV!
Dont want to gripe -
Just want PC free!

And while the emojis
Are very amusing,
Some look like banshees
And somewhat confusing!

We need to speak
And tattle and babble
Over a glass or two
And a game of scrabble!

We need to chatter
Confab and converse;
Sit here and natter
Even if its perverse...

Is that you with an email?
This can be so unforgiving!
Or did you send a thumbnail
In fact, are you still living!

So lets get together
Conversations got poor,
Just send me a text-
You only live next door!

Get away from it all!

Get away from it all!

We’ve got to the stage and at our age,
Holidays for us are all the rage!
Either Newlywed or nearly dead,
It’s something we don’t want to disengage!

We just need a rest after a break
Gone is the zest, left is a headache
We need to sweat again on the internet
Get the best deal near the beach we fret.

Found the hotel but not the flight
Away from the cold in hot Fahrenheit!
It’s beginning to prove so elusive
To find something good that’s all inclusive!

No working cooking, or any housework,
Wanting to be spoilt somewhere with perks
Read through a book just for a change
A new experience to book and arrange.

Just look at this, only three room’s leftover,
A place in the sun while we fly over Dover!
Some films to view or Out of the blue;
And to the urge to sleep just takes over.

Got to the stage, where we love holidays!
Used to jet lag and flight delays.
Sleep in the sun, nocturnal fun,
At our age, we’ve only just begun!

Ticking things off on the bucket list
And think fuck it let’s just get pissed!
At our age, we really don’t care
As long as it’s hot and we’ll eventually get there.

But always a dread, is our stack of meds
We can be at times at loggerheads!
Just keep them by and kept in a sack-
It’ll save time when we have to pack.

Get away from it all, when we’ve just got home,
No time to waste, browse through Google chrome.
Get away from it all, book the next holiday
And let the salty blue sea blow the cobwebs away.

Dive deep below and don’t look back -
Meet a huge fish, have a panic attack!
Or up in the mountains on the longest zip wire
A long way below couldn’t get any higher.

At our age we need to do what we can
And eat that funny cake in Amsterdam!
The mortgage is paid, can’t comprehend it
Got some money spare and just want to spend it

Salami!

One for Sue.... Salami

Salami for my breakfast
Salami for my tea!
I think there is a packet
In the fridge
That’s just for me!

Salami on my list,
Every time I shop!
Salami for my brunch
Tastes so good
I cannot stop!

Salami is the best
There’s some in which
I’m saving
I must buy extra
For the weekend
It satisfies my craving!

Alone

Gave to Dave Richie for a song

Alone

You may be in a relationship but very much alone.
You may be offered some support but always on your own.
Wondering why you feel so ill with everything thats fraught.
You go to bed so early with nothing but your thoughts.

Fed up with constant battles and the point youre trying to make.
Tired of trying to prove youre right till your heart begins to ache.
Doing everything yourself and unable to communicate
And even problems that are simple it leaves you in a state.

You ask the same old question and to the depth of your soul
Wonder why you are here to act out the same old role.
Struggling once more and yet time and time again
Its déjà vu and the answer to you is like a closed chain.

Once in a blue moon you need the benefit of the doubt
Instead of keep arguing, repeating, going over and to shout!
So exhausted youve become almost to the point of no return,
To ask for a little understanding but once again you’re spurned.

Chorus: Rejected dejected just want to be respected,
Want your strong shoulders and need to be protected.

You want a magic wand to wave and to cast a spell
Go back to the time when you both got on so well
All you want to do now is hide right in your shell
Now how it feels when we argue, you want me to go to hell

You try to help and aide all the minor problems that you get
But always feel rejected and just get more and more upset.
It isnt worth the time youve taken to try and work things through
Nobodys dying, its just me crying and its all because of you.

Lads' holiday

Lads' holiday

Eat me eggs and bacon
Wash it down with beer
At the airport, down another -
This is why I'm here!

Am here with all the lads -
We're having a holiday!
Somewhere warmer than here
Hope there's no delays.

Had another pint
While watching information.
Cannot properly focus
Cannot read location.

Not sure where I'm going,
Not sure if I've been!
Feels like I'm going to puke,
Looking a bit green.

Guts now completely empty;
Bought a book to read;
Don't intend to read it -
Didn't really need it.

Plenty of sex on the beach;
Another coctail or three
In a hotel with a 2-star rating
That's a mile or so from the sea.

I've been drinking since sunrise
Keeping up with all my mates
Following what they do
Watching them demonstrate!

Turning all nocturnal
Lie in bed all day
Sleep off my hangover
For the disco near the quay.

Chat up all the birds
Feeling a bit pissed!
Chuck up up in the loo
Even though I've just been kissed.

Far away from home
Soaking up the sun;
Never feeling quite myself
Even though it's fun.

But as I board the plane
The crew took me aside
The've barred me from flying
Couldn't walk in a straight line....

We share their land

We share their land

Everything is different
from flowers to Bees,
to Mango trees ,
the air we breathe,
Yellow, orange Butterflies
that grace the beach,
eating off a putrid Peach.
Out of reach
the wildlife screech.
And of the Seabirds
in the air
in the sea
the coloured fish,
I stare.
A quiet nature trail;
the Monkeys' swing
from their tails.
And in the wild
a crocodile
to make me smile!
(And very nervous
for a while!)
Coloured birds
sing a perfect tune;
back to front moon .
And almost soon
the rainy monsoon.
The sea is calm,
the sea is clear;
the trees of palm.
People full of charm!
Breezy and warm
despite a storm.
And of nocturnal creatures-
we'll be awake tonight
in hot Fahrenheit.
And to our delight
the creatures in the sand
crustaceans, reptiles, rodents
feed from our hands
and a reminder
that we share their land.
